Wallet guide
Your Rampy wallet: secure it, then take control.
Every Rampy account comes with a wallet on Ethereum networks and on Solana, created when you first sign in. It is the default for every transaction. It is also entirely yours: Rampy cannot see its key, cannot move money out of it and cannot freeze it. That is why it is up to you to secure it, and why selling and swapping wait until you have.
What your Rampy wallet is used for
Buying stablecoins
They are delivered to your Rampy wallet. If you have linked a wallet app, you can choose it instead on the order form.
Selling or swapping
Rampy asks your Rampy wallet to send the stablecoins, and you approve the send. Nothing leaves it without your approval.
Deposit accounts
Money paid into your bank details converts into your Rampy wallet, or into a linked wallet if you pick one.
Secure it first: two steps, and one optional
They are on your Wallet page under Set up your wallet and take a couple of minutes. Both are needed before you sell or swap, the orders that take money out of your wallet. Buying and getting paid work without them, but do the backup early: it is your way back in. The third is optional.
- 1
Turn on two-step approval
Choose a passkey or an authenticator app. From then on every signature and every transaction asks for it, including the sends Rampy asks you to approve when you sell or swap. Someone who gets into your email still cannot move your money.
- 2
Back up your wallet in a wallet app
Press Back up my wallet. Our wallet provider, Privy, shows your recovery phrase and private key on a page Rampy cannot read. Import either into a wallet app of your choice, such as MetaMask, Phantom, Trust Wallet or Coinbase Wallet, or write it on paper and keep it offline. The phrase brings back your Solana wallet too. With it you can open your wallet anywhere, even if you lose access to your email. Without it, losing your email can mean losing the wallet.
- 3
Connect another wallet (optional)
The wallet you imported is already your Rampy wallet, so there is nothing to connect for it. To also use a different wallet you have, link it: MetaMask, Phantom, Coinbase Wallet, Rainbow or any WalletConnect wallet, in your browser or on your phone. Your app asks you to sign a message. That proves the wallet is yours, and it never moves money.
Control it from your browser or phone
Your wallet does not depend on Rampy. There are two ways to hold it yourself, and you can use both.
Open your Rampy wallet in a wallet app
- On the Wallet page, press Back up my wallet and copy the recovery phrase (or the private key), as in step 2.
- In a wallet app of your choice, such as MetaMask, Phantom, Trust Wallet or Coinbase Wallet, choose to add an existing wallet, and enter the recovery phrase (or the private key). The phrase brings your Solana wallet too, in apps that support Solana.
- The app now shows the same wallet and the same balance you see on Rampy, and you can send from it without us.
Type the phrase or key into the wallet app only, on a device you trust. Never into a website, a chat or a form.
Connect another wallet you already use (optional)
- On the Wallet page, open step 3 and press Connect a wallet. Not needed for the wallet you imported: it already is your Rampy wallet.
- In a browser, an installed extension is listed first. For a wallet on your phone, choose WalletConnect and scan the QR code.
- On a phone, choose your app. It opens, you approve the connection, then sign the message.
A linked wallet can then receive your purchases and deposits alongside your Rampy wallet. A Ledger works through Ledger Live with WalletConnect.
Common questions
Which network should I choose?
The same coin on two networks is in two different places. USDC on Base and USDC on Solana are not interchangeable, and a send on the wrong network can be lost. So the rule is: use the network the coins are already on, or the one the person paying you sends on, and pick the same one on both sides.
If you are free to choose, Base or Solana cost a fraction of a cent per send. Ethereum itself costs more. Your Rampy wallet has one address for every Ethereum network (Ethereum, Base, Arbitrum, Optimism, Polygon and Avalanche) and a separate one for Solana; the Wallet page shows both.
Who pays the network fee?
Every send on a blockchain pays the network a small fee, in that network's own coin: ETH on Base, SOL on Solana, POL on Polygon. It is separate from the stablecoin you are sending, and it goes to the network, not to Rampy.
When you sell, swap or send from your Rampy wallet on Ethereum (sends of 100 or more), Base, Polygon, Arbitrum, Optimism and Solana, Rampy pays it for you, so you need none of that coin. A wallet app you linked pays its own fees.
Otherwise it is usually under a cent on Base and Solana. One Solana exception: the first time an address receives a coin, opening it for that coin costs about 0.002 SOL, paid once by the sending wallet. Rampy checks before asking you to approve anything, and tells you if the wallet is short.
How do I move USDC in from Coinbase or Binance?
- On Rampy's Wallet page, copy your address for the network you will use: the Ethereum-networks one for Base, or the Solana one.
- In Coinbase or Binance, choose Send or Withdraw, pick USDC, and paste the address.
- Choose the same network in the exchange's network list: Base for the first address, Solana for the second. This is the step that matters.
- The first time, send a small amount and check it arrives on the Wallet page before sending the rest. It usually takes under a minute.

What if a send fails?
Rampy tells you in plain words what happened and, first of all, whether anything left your wallet.
- “Nothing was sent”: your coins are where they were. Do what the message says, usually just try again.
- “Sent, but not confirmed yet”: it may already have gone. Do not send again. The order's page follows it and updates by itself.
- If it keeps failing, write to support@rampy.money and include the Details for support under the message.
Failures on our side, such as a network refusing us, are reported to us automatically, so we are usually on it before you write.

Ready?
Set up your wallet is at the top of the Wallet page, and on your dashboard until the two required steps are done.
