How Long Does Crypto to Bank Actually Take?
The blockchain part takes seconds. Then it hits the banking system, and that is where the days come from.

People are often surprised that the crypto leg of a cash-out is the fast part. Blockchains settle in seconds. Banks settle on business days. Nearly all the waiting comes from the traditional side.
Stage by stage
| Stage | Typical time |
|---|---|
| Blockchain confirmation | Seconds to a few minutes |
| Provider conversion | Usually immediate |
| Domestic wire (USD) | Often same business day |
| ACH (USD) | 1–3 business days |
| SEPA (EUR) | Same or next business day |
| Faster Payments (GBP) | Minutes to hours |
Business days are the trap
ACH, US wires and standard SEPA do not run at weekends or on public holidays, so a sale on Friday evening on one of those can arrive on Monday or Tuesday; if you have a deadline, count backwards in business days and start early. Faster Payments, Pix, SPEI and SEPA Instant (where the receiving bank supports it) run every day of the week.
First transfers are slower
Your first payout to a newly added bank account often takes longer than later ones. The account is being validated, and the first transaction to any new destination attracts more scrutiny. This is normal and not a sign anything is wrong.
Why a transfer gets delayed
- The reference was missing or altered, so the deposit could not be matched to your order.
- The amount sent did not match the order.
- The name on the bank account does not exactly match your verified identity.
- Blockchain analytics flagged the source address for review.
- A routine compliance check, which the provider may be legally unable to explain.
- The receiving bank rejected the payment and it is being returned.
How to make it faster
- Verify your identity and add your bank account before you need the money.
- Choose a wire or Faster Payments over ACH when speed matters more than cost.
- Start on a weekday morning, not a Friday night.
- Copy the reference exactly. Do not add anything to it.
- Send the exact amount your order specifies.

Start a transferFrequently asked
Why is my crypto sale taking days?
Almost always the bank leg. ACH takes one to three business days by design, and weekends and public holidays do not count. The crypto side usually completes in minutes.
Is a wire faster than ACH?
Yes. Domestic wires often settle the same business day, while ACH takes one to three. Wires usually cost more, and some banks charge to receive them.
My transfer is late. What should I check first?
The reference. A missing or modified reference means the provider cannot match your deposit to your order, and it is the most common cause of delay.
